The trailer of Aneet Padda and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s upcoming series Hunkkaar: The Roar has been released, and it promises an intense story about abuse, power and a young woman’s fight to be heard.
The drama follows Meenu, played by Aneet Padda, who takes the difficult step of approaching the police and accusing an influential spiritual guru, Baapji, played by Raghubir Yadav, of assault and sexual abuse. The trailer opens with Meenu at a police station as she registers a complaint against Baapji. However, instead of immediately receiving support, she finds herself facing questions about her character and behaviour. Fatima Sana Shaikh Plays a Determined Police Officer
Fatima Sana Shaikh plays ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, the police officer who decides to investigate Meenu’s allegations. As she begins looking into the case, she finds herself going up against Baapji’s powerful clan and influence.
The trailer shows Jasleen refusing to back down despite intimidation and threats. Her character appears determined to uncover the truth and challenge the power that surrounds the spiritual guru.
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub plays a lawyer who stands by Meenu when very few people are willing to believe her. Ram Kapoor plays Baapji’s lawyer, who takes on the responsibility of defending the influential guru, while Arjun Mathur plays a television journalist following the controversial case.
Aneet Padda Says Meenu Is More Than What Happened to Her
Aneet Padda, who shot Hunkkaar before gaining widespread recognition with Saiyaara, said her character Meenu is not defined by the abuse she allegedly experienced but by what she chooses to do afterward.
The actor described Meenu as young, complicated and not always easy to understand. At the heart of the character, however, is her refusal to remain silent.
Her performance appears to be one of the emotional highlights of the trailer, particularly as Meenu tries to fight against people who question her instead of supporting her.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas Backs the Series
Hunkkaar: The Roar is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment in association with Purple Pebble Pictures, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas serving as executive producer.
Speaking about the project, Priyanka said she has always wanted to support stories that have something meaningful to say. She also expressed her confidence in filmmakers Nitya Mehra and Karan D Kapadia and praised the cast and crew behind the series.
