‘Spirit’ release date confirmed amid postponement rumours: Makers clarify Prabhas-starrer is on track for March 2027
Amid speculation about delays, the team behind the much-anticipated film “Spirit” has issued an official clarification confirming its release schedule.
The Prabhas-starrer “Spirit”, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has been making headlines following rumours that its release had been pushed from March to December. Putting all speculation to rest, the makers have now confirmed that the film remains on track for a worldwide theatrical release on March 5, 2027, as originally announced.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the team said:
“Amid ongoing speculation around the release timeline of SPIRIT, the makers would like to officially clarify that the film is very much on track and will release in cinemas worldwide on 5th March 2027, as previously announced.”
First look and early buzz
The film generated significant excitement earlier this year when its first look was unveiled on January 1, 2026, as part of a New Year release. The poster featured Prabhas in a rugged, intense avatar with long hair and visible bruises, while Triptii Dimri was seen lighting a cigarette for him, setting a gritty and raw tone for the project.

About the film
“Spirit” marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who previously directed “Animal”. The project has been among the most anticipated Indian films since its announcement, largely due to the scale of the team and the popularity of its lead actor.
As part of the film’s promotional build-up, Vanga also released a “sound story” teaser on Prabhas’ birthday last year. The one-minute audio clip introduced a jail setting and hinted at Prabhas playing the role of a cop, featuring tense dialogue exchanges and a dramatic tone that intrigued fans.
Cast and characters
Alongside Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the film features Kanchana, Prakash Raj, and Vivek Oberoi in key roles. Prabhas will reportedly portray a police officer, while Triptii Dimri plays his love interest.
The film also made news earlier after rumours circulated about Prakash Raj exiting the project due to creative differences. However, the actor dismissed these claims, clarifying that he had not yet even begun shooting his portions.
What’s next
With the release date now reaffirmed, “Spirit” continues to remain one of the most awaited upcoming films, drawing strong anticipation from fans across the country and overseas.
