What should have been the beginning of a new chapter ended in a tragedy that has stunned Pune and shocked social media. Twenty-five-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal, who was preparing for his wedding and planning an extravagant birthday celebration for his fiancée Siya Goyal, died on June 18 after falling into a 400-foot gorge at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala. Days later, police arrested the 20-year-old Siya and her alleged lover, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary, accusing them of plotting his murder.
As investigators piece together the case, videos and social media posts from Ketan’s final days have revealed a heartbreaking picture of a man deeply in love, making elaborate plans for the woman he was about to marry.
A Love Story Headed Towards Marriage
Ketan and Siya got engaged in February and were set to tie the knot in November. According to family members, preparations for the wedding had already begun in full swing. The families had booked a palace in Udaipur for the ceremony, and discussions regarding pre-wedding festivities were underway.
Ketan, who served as a director in his family’s real estate business, had reportedly embraced the relationship wholeheartedly and was excited about starting a new life with Siya.
A Month Spent Planning Her Birthday
June 19 was Siya Goyal’s 20th birthday, and Ketan had spent nearly an entire month preparing surprises for the occasion.
According to his family, he had booked around 40 rooms at a luxury resort in Mahabaleshwar to celebrate her birthday with family and close friends. He wanted the occasion to be memorable and had planned every detail carefully.
Videos that surfaced after the arrests show just how much effort he had put into making Siya happy.
Flowers, A Luxury Convertible And A Romantic Proposal
One of the videos shows Ketan surprising Siya with a bouquet inside a flower-decorated luxury convertible. With the roof down, the couple is seen enjoying the ride while Siya embraces him after receiving the flowers.
Another video captures an intimate dinner outing where Ketan goes down on one knee before presenting her with a gift. Friends and family members can be heard cheering as the couple celebrate together.
Other clips show the two smiling for pictures and enjoying what appeared to be happy moments, making the allegations against Siya all the more shocking.
A Tearful Instagram Post After His Death
On June 18, after Ketan’s death was initially believed to be an accident, Siya shared an emotional message on Instagram mourning her fiancé.
“You left me on my birthday. You left when we were so close to getting married. I still can’t understand why you did this to me. I had dreams and questions I’ll never get answers to. Why did you leave me when I loved you so much? Rest in peace,” she wrote.
She also shared a Hindi caption that read:
“Mere dil ko pata hai ki tu yahi hai. Wapas aaja.”
(My heart knows you are still here. Come back.)
At the time, many sympathised with her grief. But after police alleged that she had conspired to kill Ketan, the post took on a chilling significance.
What Happened At Lohagad Fort?
Ketan died after falling nearly 400 feet into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala during a trek. Siya had initially told investigators that he slipped while taking photographs near the edge of the fort.
The case was first treated as an accidental death.
However, police later began examining call records, CCTV footage and digital evidence. Investigators claim the evidence revealed a different story.
According to police, Siya and Chetan Chaudhary had been involved in a relationship for over a year and considered Ketan an obstacle to their future together.
Investigators allege that the two accused eventually conspired to eliminate him.
Earlier Murder Attempt Alleged
Police have also claimed that June 18 was not their first attempt.
Investigators allege that Siya and Chetan had tried to kill Ketan at the same fort on June 14, but the attempt failed. They allegedly returned four days later and succeeded.
During questioning, police claim both accused confessed to the crime. However, their statements and the evidence gathered will ultimately be tested during the legal process.
Father Says Son Had Suspicions
Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, has revealed that his son had previously voiced concerns about Siya’s behaviour.
According to him, Ketan had expressed doubts about her closeness with Chetan Chaudhary and had become uneasy about their relationship. Despite these concerns, the wedding plans continued.
Murder And Conspiracy Charges
Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and criminal conspiracy. Both are currently in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the videos of Ketan presenting flowers, planning surprises and proposing to the woman he intended to marry have left many heartbroken. For his family, those moments have become painful reminders of dreams that were never fulfilled and a love story that ended in unimaginable tragedy.
