Mumbai: Chahatt Khanna has candidly opened up about her personal life, spiritual journey, and the challenges of navigating public scrutiny, shedding light on her two marriages, religious beliefs, and eventual return to what she calls her “roots.”

Best known for her role in Bade Acche Lagte Hain, the actress addressed ongoing conversations about her past conversion to Islam and the narratives that have followed her over the years. In a recent interview, Chahatt expressed concern over how her statements are often taken out of context.

“My words are always misinterpreted. Even now, if I say something, one sentence will be picked and published somewhere in a different context,” she said, highlighting the pressures of being in the public eye.

Speaking about her decision to convert to Islam during her marriage to Farhan Mirza, Chahatt clarified that it was entirely voluntary. “Yes, I had converted to Islam by my own choice. Many people said that I was forced, but I have never said that,” she stated, emphasizing her secular outlook.

Describing her spiritual beliefs, the actress shared that she does not confine herself to one religion. “I believe in Islam, I believe in Sanatan Dharma as well. That doesn’t mean I don’t believe in other religions. I am a very secular person,” she added, noting that she celebrates festivals across faiths, including Eid and Diwali.

Chahatt also reflected on the emotional toll of public criticism, especially during difficult phases of her personal life. She recalled feeling “disheartened, sad and scared” as negative perceptions affected both her reputation and career prospects. However, with time, she says she has grown stronger and more self-aware. “My confidence grew with experience, and these things started feeling very small,” she said.

In a previous interview, the actress spoke about her return to Sanatan Dharma following her divorce, describing it as a gradual and introspective process. While she continues to respect aspects of Islam, she said reconnecting with her roots brought her clarity and a deeper sense of truth. “I am in a much happier space now… I know what is correct and I am living a very conscious life,” she shared.

Chahatt’s personal life has often made headlines. She was first married to Bharat Narsinghani in 2006, a union that ended within a year. She later married Farhan Mirza in 2013 and filed for divorce in 2018, citing sexual and mental harassment. The former couple shares two daughters, Zoharr and Dityaa.

Now, as she continues to rebuild her life, Chahatt Khanna appears focused on personal growth, spiritual balance, and embracing life with renewed clarity—on her own terms.
