As the iconic Bollywood film Main Hoon Na completes 22 years, actor Amrita Rao has taken a nostalgic trip down memory lane, celebrating the film and its director Farah Khan, calling her “way ahead of her time.”
The 2004 blockbuster marked Farah Khan’s directorial debut and went on to become one of the most loved films of its era, blending action, comedy, romance, and drama with memorable music and larger-than-life characters.
Amrita Rao recalls unforgettable experience
Sharing a heartfelt note, Amrita Rao reflected on her journey with the film, describing Main Hoon Na as a “cult” classic that continues to grow in popularity even after two decades.
She praised Farah Khan’s vision, calling her “Farah (FaaRah) ahead of her time,” and highlighted the director’s attention to detail—from costumes and hairstyles to creatively shot sequences like the one-take song Chale Jaise Hawayein.
Amrita also expressed admiration for the film’s humour, characters, and emotional depth, saying that such films are rarely made today.

The actress fondly remembered the ensemble cast and standout performances, including Satish Shah’s comedic role as the spitting professor, Bindu’s quirky portrayal of a teacher, and the memorable characters that added charm to the story.
She also recalled her own role as Sanjana, describing the character as fearless, blunt, yet kind—one of the most defining roles of her career.

Main Hoon Na starred Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, Boman Irani, and Naseeruddin Shah, with Suniel Shetty playing the antagonist. The film’s soundtrack, featuring hits like Tumse Milke, Chale Jaise Hawaayein, Gori Gori, and its title track, remains popular even today.
