A tragic fire broke out at Shanta Bhuvan in Mumbai’s Vile Parle West late Tuesday night, leaving two people dead and several others injured. The blaze erupted on the 11th floor of the residential building, triggering panic among residents as thick smoke and flames spread through the affected area.

Among those who lost their lives was a 2.5-year-old child and a house help. The incident has left the families and residents of the building deeply shaken.

As the fire intensified, several residents were forced to move to safer areas of the building. Some people reportedly became stranded on the terrace and required assistance from emergency teams. Firefighters launched a major rescue and firefighting operation, working to evacuate residents while simultaneously bringing the flames under control.

The operation continued for a considerable period as firefighters tackled the blaze inside the high-rise. Teams also focused on checking different parts of the building to ensure that residents who may have been trapped because of the smoke or flames were safely evacuated.

Several people sustained injuries in the incident and were taken for medical attention. The exact nature and severity of their injuries are yet to be fully established.

The fire eventually came under control following the extensive firefighting operation. Emergency personnel continued to assess the building and affected areas after the flames were extinguished as a precautionary measure.

The incident has once again raised concerns about fire safety and emergency preparedness in Mumbai’s high-rise residential buildings. Fires in tall buildings can become particularly dangerous because smoke can spread rapidly and residents may have limited escape routes.

The exact cause of the blaze at Shanta Bhuvan remains under investigation. Authorities are expected to examine the affected portion of the building and determine what triggered the fire.

The deaths of the young child and the house help have turned what began as a late-night emergency into a heartbreaking tragedy for the Vile Parle community. As investigations continue, authorities will also be looking into whether any safety-related issues contributed to the incident.
