Actor Randeep Hooda has stepped forward to support flood-affected families in Assam, spending time on the ground as part of a relief distribution drive in the state’s worst-hit regions. A video shared by the actor on social media shows him walking through knee-deep floodwater and delivering essential household items to people who remain stranded by the devastating floods.
The relief initiative is being carried out in Sivasagar, one of the districts severely impacted by the floods that have ravaged Assam since July 19. Working alongside an NGO, Randeep travelled by boat to reach families who are still cut off due to rising water levels.
In the video, the actor can be seen carrying and distributing kitchen essentials, including utensils and other daily-use items, directly to residents waiting inside their partially submerged homes. Speaking about the situation, Randeep said that even after ten days, the water level in many areas remains above knee height, making it difficult for people to step outside or access basic necessities.

He explained that many families are still trapped inside their homes and continue to call for help. During one of the relief trips, the supplies on the boat were exhausted before every family could be reached, prompting the team to plan another round of distribution.
Randeep also revealed that while food and ration kits have reached several villages, many survivors now urgently need other basic items to restart their daily lives. Kitchen utensils, slippers and essential household supplies have become priorities for families who lost almost everything in the floods.
The actor praised the volunteers working with the Global Sikh relief team, saying they had identified the immediate needs of affected communities. He added that many people are unable to travel to relief camps or distribution centres, which is why volunteers are taking the supplies directly to their homes by boat.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Randeep appealed to people to support the relief efforts. He wrote that Assam is battling one of its worst flood crises and urged everyone to contribute in whatever way possible to help provide food, shelter and essential supplies to those affected.
The floods have caused widespread destruction across Assam. According to official figures, Sivasagar remains the worst-hit district, with over 55,000 people affected. Thousands more have been impacted in Charaideo and Jorhat, while more than 15,000 hectares of farmland remain submerged. Tens of thousands of livestock have either been washed away or affected by the disaster, adding to the hardships faced by local communities.
The Assam government has already announced interim financial assistance for thousands of affected households, while relief camps and distribution centres continue to operate across the state. However, several remote villages remain difficult to access because of the floodwaters.
Randeep Hooda’s presence on the ground has drawn appreciation from fans, many of whom praised the actor for personally reaching out to those in need instead of limiting his support to online appeals. His efforts have highlighted the importance of continued relief work as Assam battles one of its most challenging flood seasons in recent years.
