The ongoing divorce battle between Tamil actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Aarti Ravi has taken another dramatic turn. Days after reports emerged that Aarti had sought ₹40 lakh per month as interim maintenance, her mother, producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, has stepped forward to explain why such an amount was requested. Meanwhile, Ravi Mohan has reacted with a cryptic social media post that has further fueled public interest in the case.
Sujatha Vijayakumar Clarifies the ₹40 Lakh Demand
Speaking to the media in Chennai, Sujatha Vijayakumar said the reported ₹40 lakh monthly maintenance was never meant solely for Aarti’s personal expenses.
According to her, the amount was sought to meet the family’s financial commitments, including debts and the expenses of Aarti and Ravi’s two sons. She alleged that the family had been left with heavy financial liabilities and claimed that they had even received a bank notice over pending dues.
Sujatha further stated that the children’s education has become a major concern. She said both boys study in an international school where the annual fees are approximately ₹86 lakh, along with additional expenses for tuition classes and extracurricular activities.
She also rejected allegations that Aarti had prevented Ravi Mohan from meeting their children. Instead, she claimed that Aarti herself approached the court seeking arrangements that would allow the children to maintain a relationship with their father.
Court Rejects the ₹40 Lakh Plea
According to reports, the Chennai Family Welfare Court did not accept Aarti’s request for ₹40 lakh per month.
Instead, the court directed Ravi Mohan to pay ₹3 lakh per month as interim maintenance to Aarti until the divorce proceedings are concluded. In addition, he has reportedly been directed to pay ₹1 lakh per month for each of their two sons, along with bearing their school fees and expenses related to extracurricular activities.
The court also reportedly observed that there should be no restrictions on the children meeting their father.

Soon after Sujatha’s media interaction, Ravi Mohan shared a cryptic message on Instagram without mentioning anyone by name.
Thanking his friends on Friendship Day, he expressed gratitude to those who had stood by him during the difficult phase of his life. He also wrote that it was unfortunate that some people continued to behave in ways that amounted to “contempt of court.”
In another part of his message, Ravi stated that “the four of us will not ever be in the same room together as long as I am alive,” a remark that has sparked widespread speculation online.
The actor also shared cheerful moments with his parents and brother, revealing that he recently screened portions of his upcoming directorial debut, An Ordinary Man, for his family. He described their encouragement as a blessing and ended his post by writing that he was grateful “God is winning.”

Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi married in 2009 and have two sons together. In September 2024, Ravi publicly announced their separation, while Aarti later claimed the announcement had been made without her consent.
