The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has dismissed reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma could retire from ODI cricket after the Lord’s ODI against England, calling the rumours unverified and baseless.
Speculation had been circulating that the England series might mark Rohit’s final appearance in the 50-over format. However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has clarified that there has been no such discussion within the board or the team management regarding the Indian captain’s retirement.
“There has been no discussion about Rohit playing his last match at Lord’s,” Saikia said, making it clear that the veteran batter continues to be an important part of India’s ODI setup.
The BCCI official further added that Rohit remains a valuable player for the team and will continue representing India as long as he remains part of the selectors’ plans. He also urged fans and cricket followers not to pay attention to rumours circulating without official confirmation.
