Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s indefinite hunger strike has drawn support from several personalities, with Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha and comedian Samay Raina becoming the latest public figures to voice their concerns over his health and call for dialogue.

Wangchuk’s protest, which has entered its 19th day, has raised concerns among supporters as his health continues to decline. Several celebrities have appealed for immediate attention to the matter, with many urging authorities to engage in discussions while also expressing concern for Wangchuk’s well-being.

Sonakshi Sinha Shares Emotional Appeal

Sonakshi Sinha took to social media to share a video message expressing her concern over Wangchuk’s prolonged fast. The actor said she usually avoids commenting on such matters but felt compelled to speak after watching the activist’s condition.

Talking about Wangchuk’s contribution to the country, Sonakshi said that his work and achievements are known to everyone. She highlighted that his current protest is connected to concerns about the future of children and the issues they may face.

She said that Wangchuk, despite not personally knowing millions of people supporting him, has continued his protest for a larger cause.

“We all know him. We all know what he has done for our country, what his achievements are, and how many awards he has won. Today, he has been on a hunger strike for 18 days. He hasn’t eaten anything,” she said.

The actor questioned why there had been no meaningful conversation despite the seriousness of the situation.

“But why is no one listening? Nobody cares. No one is opening a dialogue, no one is having a conversation. Nobody is even turning around to look at him,” she added.

‘I Can’t Sit Quietly Anymore’

Sonakshi explained that she decided to speak because she believes the issue concerns the future of the country’s youth.

She praised the young people associated with the movement and said that raising one’s voice for important issues requires courage.

The actor also clarified that speaking about the matter does not mean being against the country. Instead, she said it comes from concern and respect for someone working toward a cause.

Addressing Wangchuk directly, she said:

“You are very important to us. You are a gem. I can’t thank you enough for what you are doing for this country.”

While she did not ask him to end his fast, she raised concerns about the consequences of his declining health.
