Actor Prakash Raj appeared before the 48th Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court in Bengaluru after a non-bailable warrant (NBW) was issued against him in connection with a voter ID-related case. The court later recalled the warrant and granted the actor bail on a cash surety of ₹4,000.
The case dates back to 2019, when a complaint was filed alleging that Prakash Raj was registered as a voter in more than one state. According to the complaint, his name reportedly appeared on electoral rolls in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana.
Under the Election Commission of India rules, an individual is allowed to be enrolled as a voter in only one constituency. The complaint alleged that multiple voter registrations were in violation of these rules, leading to legal proceedings.
During the hearing, Prakash Raj’s legal team informed the court that the actor had not received the summons related to the case. They stated that he became aware of the proceedings only after media reports highlighted the issuance of the non-bailable warrant.
After considering the submission, the court recalled the warrant and granted him bail upon furnishing a cash surety of ₹4,000. This allowed the actor to continue participating in the legal proceedings without being taken into custody.
It is important to note that the allegations against Prakash Raj have not been proven in court. The matter remains under judicial consideration, and the court will continue hearing the case in the coming days.
Prakash Raj, known for his work across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema, has often been in the public eye for both his films and his outspoken views on social and political issues. However, this latest development relates solely to the voter ID case, which is yet to reach a final conclusion.
As the legal process continues, the court will examine the evidence before deciding whether there was any violation of election laws. Until then, the allegations remain subject to judicial determination.
