While Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt chose to keep their wedding ceremony intimate and away from the spotlight, one exquisite detail from their special day has captured everyone’s attention—the bride’s breathtaking natural ruby wedding ring.

Far from being an ordinary piece of jewellery, the bespoke ring was personally chosen by Aamir Khan and crafted over several months. Every element of the ring, from the rare gemstone to its intricate finishing, was designed to create a timeless symbol of love and commitment.

Speaking to HT Lifestyle, jewellery expert Amit Kumar shared fascinating details about the creation of the ring. According to him, sourcing the perfect gemstone itself took more than three months. The centrepiece is a natural Madagascar ruby, considered one of the rarest gemstones in the world.

“It took more than three months to source the ruby, taking 256 hours by karigars and the efforts of 131 pairs of skilled hands. This is a Madagascar ruby, which is rarer than one in a million. The wedding ring is designed to look, quite literally, like royalty,” Amit Kumar revealed.

The ring features the rare ruby in an elegant prong setting, allowing the gemstone to stand out while highlighting its natural brilliance. The design process, gemstone setting, polishing, and final finishing together required more than 256 hours of meticulous craftsmanship.

According to the jeweller, the ring was completed by 131 pairs of experienced artisans, each contributing to different stages of the creation process. Their combined expertise ensured that every detail met the highest standards of precision and luxury.

The vision behind the ring was clear from the beginning—to create something that could never be replicated. Instead of selecting a ready-made design, the focus was on crafting a one-of-a-kind heirloom that reflected elegance, exclusivity, and enduring love.

The use of a rare Madagascar ruby further adds to the ring’s uniqueness. These gemstones are highly prized for their rich colour, exceptional clarity, and rarity, making them among the most sought-after rubies in the world. Finding a stone that met the required quality standards reportedly took months of careful sourcing before work on the ring could even begin.

The handcrafted approach extended to every aspect of the jewellery. From the initial sketches and design development to the delicate stone setting and final polish, artisans invested hundreds of hours to ensure that the finished piece embodied sophistication and timeless beauty.

Although Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt kept their wedding celebrations simple and private, the remarkable craftsmanship behind the wedding ring reflects the thought and care that went into every detail of their special day. Rather than opting for extravagance, the couple chose a meaningful piece of jewellery that combines rare materials, traditional craftsmanship, and elegant design.

As details of the ring continue to emerge, it has become one of the most talked-about aspects of the couple’s wedding. With its exceptionally rare Madagascar ruby and months of painstaking craftsmanship, the bespoke creation stands as a symbol of love, dedication, and artistry—making it every bit as memorable as the intimate ceremony itself.
