Actor Gaurav Khanna has spoken publicly for the first time after his wife, Akanksha Chamola, revealed on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Season 2 that the couple has decided to part ways after nearly a decade of marriage.
While Akanksha’s emotional revelation came as a shock to fans, Gaurav has made it clear that despite their decision to divorce, his love and respect for her remain unchanged.
Speaking to the paparazzi on the sets of Laughter Chefs in Mumbai, Gaurav responded with warmth when asked about Akanksha.
“The situation is still the same as before. My love is still the same, and my support is still the same. I will always support Akanksha. She is my wife. When you truly love someone, you don’t just turn your back on them,” he said.
His heartfelt statement quickly caught the attention of fans, many of whom praised the actor for handling such a personal matter with maturity and dignity.
Akanksha opened up about the reason behind their separation
During her stint on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Season 2, Akanksha shared that the biggest reason behind their decision to separate was their different views on parenthood.
She revealed that she has always wanted to remain child-free, while Gaurav dreams of becoming a father.
Akanksha said she had been honest with Gaurav about her feelings from the very beginning.
“I don’t have the instinct to become a mother, and I told him this a long time ago. When I realised that motherhood wasn’t for me, I made it clear. If he wanted to leave because of that, I was okay with it because I didn’t want him to compromise on something so important,” she shared.
She also said that most people choose marriage because they want to build a family, adding that Gaurav was not wrong in wanting children.
“I don’t want to stop him from having the life he wants. He deserves to become a father if that’s his dream,” she added.

Gaurav and Akanksha got married on November 24, 2016, in a grand three-day wedding celebration in Kanpur. Over the years, they were often seen supporting each other through personal and professional milestones, earning admiration as one of television’s loved couples.
Their differing views on having children had also come into the spotlight during Gaurav’s time on Bigg Boss. During the finale week, he became emotional after being accused by a journalist of using the issue to gain sympathy. At the time, Gaurav had maintained that he was simply sharing a deeply personal part of his life.
