Years of bitterness finally gave way to forgiveness as Sunita Ahuja opened up about her emotional reunion with nephew Krushna Abhishek and his wife Kashmera Shah.
Speaking on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Season 2, Sunita shared that it was Kashmera who took the first step towards ending the family’s long-running feud. During a conversation with fellow contestants Madhuri Grover and Akanksha Choudhary, Sunita became emotional while recalling the moment that changed everything.
She revealed that the reunion happened on the sets of Laughter Chefs, where she met Krushna after nearly 14 to 15 years.
“I went to Laughter Chefs, and that’s where Krushna and I finally patched up after 14-15 years. I hadn’t even seen his children, and they are now nine years old. I had raised Krushna like my own child, so it was an emotional moment for me,” Sunita said.
Talking about Kashmera’s gesture, Sunita shared that the actress apologised with tears in her eyes.
“Kashmera is a very sweet girl. She fell at my feet, crying, and kept apologising. She told me, ‘I’m sorry, I made a mistake.’ Seeing her like that made me emotional too, and I also started crying. After so many years, we were finally meeting again,” she recalled.
The emotional confession has touched many viewers, especially those who closely followed the family’s public fallout over the years.
The feud that made headlines
The differences between Krushna Abhishek and his uncle Govinda’s family had remained in the spotlight for more than a decade. The trouble reportedly began after Govinda was upset with Krushna’s jokes about him on television.
The situation worsened after an old social media post by Kashmera Shah, referring to “people who dance for money,” was believed by Sunita to be aimed at Govinda. Although Kashmera never confirmed the remark was directed at him, the misunderstanding widened the gap between the two families.
Over the years, both sides made public statements that kept the controversy alive. Krushna once claimed that Govinda had not visited his newborn twins in the hospital, while Govinda dismissed those allegations. Sunita, too, had publicly stated that she avoided appearing on The Kapil Sharma Show because Krushna was part of it.
A fresh beginning
Earlier this year, signs of reconciliation emerged when Krushna Abhishek and Kashmera Shah visited Govinda in the hospital after the veteran actor accidentally suffered a gunshot injury to his leg. The visit sparked speculation that the family had finally decided to put the past behind them.
Sunita’s latest revelation confirms that the reconciliation was heartfelt and emotional. Her account of Kashmera apologising and accepting her mistake has been appreciated by fans, many of whom are happy to see the family reunite after years of misunderstandings.
