A day after the action-packed teaser of YRF’s upcoming spy thriller Alpha grabbed attention, the makers unveiled a brand-new poster featuring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor. While the poster was meant to build excitement for the film, it quickly sparked a debate on social media, with many users claiming that it looks strikingly similar to the poster of the Hollywood blockbuster Dune.
The latest Alpha poster presents the lead cast against a rugged, desert-like backdrop with a muted sepia colour palette. The intense expressions, dramatic composition and futuristic atmosphere immediately caught the attention of movie lovers online.

Many users placed the two posters side by side, pointing out similarities in the overall visual style, colour grading and character arrangement. Some felt that the aesthetic looked heavily inspired by the Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya-starrer, while others described it as “Dune-coded.”
One user joked, “I thought this was a Dune 3 poster,” while another wrote that a simple AI prompt based on the Dune artwork could have created something similar.
The discussion was not limited to X. Reddit users also joined the conversation, with several people saying that Dune was the first thing that came to mind after seeing the poster.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Alpha has faced such comparisons. Just a day earlier, the film’s teaser had also sparked debate among viewers. Some movie fans claimed that its opening sequence and overall concept reminded them of the French classic La Femme Nikita.
According to these viewers, both stories appear to revolve around a young woman who is recruited, trained and transformed into a deadly assassin by a powerful organisation or mentor figure.
Despite the online criticism, many fans have defended the film, arguing that spy thrillers often share visual styles and storytelling elements. Others believe it is too early to judge the movie based solely on promotional material and that the final film should be evaluated on its own merits.
Alpha is one of the most anticipated projects from Yash Raj Films’ expanding Spy Universe and stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in lead roles, with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor playing pivotal characters.
Whether the similarities are simply a creative coincidence or genuine inspiration remains a topic of debate among fans. For now, one thing is certain—Alpha has managed to create a strong buzz even before its release, with both its teaser and poster becoming major talking points across social media.
