Akshay Kumar has dismissed reports claiming that he charged around ₹1.7-1.8 crore as an upfront fee for Welcome To The Jungle. Addressing the speculation during the film’s trailer launch, the actor made it clear that the figures being circulated are far from the truth.

When asked about the reports, Akshay responded with his trademark humour. “To be honest, whoever told you… you said ₹1.7 crore, right? I didn’t take that much, I didn’t get that much,” he said, putting an end to the rumours.

The actor also explained that his decision to be a part of the film had little to do with money. Instead, he revealed that Welcome To The Jungle holds a special emotional value for him because of its connection with late writer Neeraj Vora, whom he considers one of the biggest influences on his comedy career.

Akshay shared that he learned the art of comedy from three legendary filmmakers and writers — Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santoshi and Neeraj Vora.

“This film was very important for me because the story was written by Neeraj Vora. I have always said that I learned comedy from three people — Priyadarshan Ji, Rajkumar Santoshi and Neeraj Vora. These three people came into my life, and whatever I understand about comedy today, I have learned a lot from them. Neeraj had a huge role in shaping that,” he said.

The actor also spoke about his long-standing bond with producer Firoz Nadiadwala, recalling the early days of his career.

“I have known Firoz for almost 36 years. I still remember visiting him when I was struggling. And I am still struggling,” Akshay joked, drawing laughter from the audience.

The comments highlighted that for Akshay, the film is not just another project but one that brings together old friendships and memories from his journey in the industry.

Welcome To The Jungle is the third instalment of the popular Welcome franchise and promises a mix of comedy, confusion and grand entertainment. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film features a massive ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Jackie Shroff, Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi and several others.

The much-awaited comedy entertainer is scheduled to hit theatres on June 26, 2026.

While speculation around actors’ fees often grabs headlines, Akshay Kumar’s latest statement suggests that his association with Welcome To The Jungle is driven more by nostalgia, relationships and his love for comedy than by financial considerations.
