Akshay Kumar Opens Up About Flunking Thrice Between KG and Class 9, Prepares for Bhooth Bangla Release
New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently shared a candid moment about his school days while hosting the reality show Wheel of Fortune. In a lighthearted segment, he introduced a childhood friend from the live audience and revealed that he flunked “thrice” between Kindergarten and 9th grade.
Childhood Memories
While reminiscing about their bond, Akshay introduced his friend Jinesh and spoke about his struggles in school. “Hum log KG se saath mein hain aur KG se 9th grade ke beech mein hum log teen-teen baar fail hue hain,” he said, recalling being a backbencher who struggled to clear exams.
Playfully nudging Jinesh, he added, “Main aapke saath time spend karta tha, uski wajah se!” highlighting how their friendship kept him distracted in class.
Upcoming Film: Bhooth Bangla
On the work front, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla, starring alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav.
The trailer hints at a hilarious horror-comedy plot, with Akshay Kumar’s character determined to get married at the haunted palace of Mangalpur, which has been under the curse of Vadhusur for years. Tabu’s character is described as the crucial link between the human world and the ghostly realm, adding intrigue to the storyline.
Originally slated for release on May 15, 2026, the film’s premiere has been moved up to April 16, 2026, reportedly due to the ongoing Dhurandhar wave at the box office.
Collaboration and Production
This marks the first collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan since their 2010 film Khatta Meetha. Bhooth Bangla is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures (a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd.) in association with Cape of Good Films, and produced by Akshay Kumar along with Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R. Kapoor.
Fans can expect a mix of comedy, thrills, and Priyadarshan’s signature style in the upcoming horror-comedy, while also getting a glimpse into Akshay Kumar’s personal anecdotes and sense of humor on his reality show.
