Virat Kohli Reacts Hilariously to ‘Overseas Player’ Joke as IPL 2026 Begins in Style

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart Virat Kohli recently had fans in splits after reacting to a humorous claim that “RCB are playing five overseas players this season.” The joke stems from Kohli spending much of his time in London with his wife Anushka Sharma and their children, prompting fans to label him an “overseas player” despite being a core RCB member.

Kohli’s Hilarious Take

In a video shared by RCB on social media, host Mr. Nags asked Kohli about the joke. Kohli, barely able to contain his laughter, responded, “I don’t know why are you asking me? Ask the overseas players. I am not an overseas player.” He then turned to the host and asked, “Am I an overseas player?” When the host replied “no,” Kohli chuckled, leaving fans entertained by his light-hearted reaction.

The playful exchange quickly went viral, adding another memorable moment to Kohli’s IPL 2026 journey.

IPL 2026: Kohli in Imperious Form

Kohli started the season on a high note, once again proving his moniker as the “Chasemaster.” In RCB’s opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, he anchored the innings with an unbeaten 69 off just 38 balls. His knock, which included five boundaries and five sixes, guided RCB to the fastest 200-plus chase in IPL history, completing 202 runs in 15.4 overs.

Milestones and Records

Apart from the match-winning innings, Kohli reached multiple career milestones in IPL 2026. He surpassed Shoaib Malik to become the Asian cricketer with the most T20 runs. He also became the first player in IPL history to score over 4,000 runs specifically in run-chases.

As the IPL season progresses, Kohli looks set to challenge his own record-breaking legacy, with his sights firmly set on crossing the 9,000-run mark in IPL history. With his home-ground advantage in Bengaluru and his impeccable form, Kohli continues to consolidate his legendary status while keeping fans entertained both on and off the field.

This season, it seems Kohli is not just setting records but also setting the bar for humor, proving he’s as much a crowd-pleaser with his wit as with his bat.
