Kumbh Mela Sensation Monalisa Bhosle Alleges Sexual Misconduct by Director Sanoj Mishra
Monalisa Bhosle, who rose to fame during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela in 2025, has accused filmmaker Sanoj Mishra of sexually assaulting her and misbehaving with several minor girls under the pretext of offering film opportunities. The allegations were made public during a press conference in Kochi, where Monalisa was accompanied by her husband, Farman Khan.
At the conference, Monalisa revealed that she and her husband have been receiving death threats, and that her posters are reportedly being burned. She also claimed that Sanoj Mishra has been slandering her and declared he would no longer cast her in his films.
Allegations of Harassment
Monalisa stated that Mishra harassed her multiple times on film sets when she was still a minor, including during the shooting of The Diary of Manipur in Nepal and in Dehradun. She added that his actions could fall under the POCSO Act.
“Who wants to be part of his films? He is such a bad and disgusting person. He misbehaves with minor girls in the name of films. I am even ashamed to utter his name,” Monalisa said. She detailed that Mishra touched her 10 times, and although she reported it to her family, they advised her against taking action since it was her first film.
‘Love Jihad’ Allegations and Threats
Monalisa also accused the director of spreading false narratives about her marriage. She said Mishra was calling her interfaith marriage a ‘love jihad’ to incite communal tension, and falsely portraying her husband as a “terrorist.” Monalisa clarified, “We got married according to Hindu rites at a temple. Everyone in the country knows that. I respect all religions.”
Background on Monalisa Bhosle
Originally from Indore, Monalisa was a garland seller who became an overnight sensation after a video of her selling malas and rudraksha beads at the Triveni Sangam went viral during the 2025 Kumbh Mela. Her striking features caught the attention of social media users nationwide, earning her widespread recognition.
She recently married Farman Khan, reportedly fleeing to Kerala due to her parents’ opposition to their interfaith union. Monalisa has since moved to Thiruvananthapuram for a film shoot.
The allegations have sparked significant controversy and raised serious questions about safety protocols and accountability in the film industry. Monalisa has urged both the central and state governments to intervene and ensure protection for her and her husband.
