Gaurav Gera Reveals the Story Behind Aditya Dhar’s ‘Peak Detailing’ in Dhurandhar 2
Since the release of Dhurandhar 2, fans have been sharing memes about director Aditya Dhar’s meticulous attention to quirky details, popularly called ‘peak detailing’. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, actor Gaurav Gera, who plays Aalam Bhai in the film, explained how many of these moments, including the now-viral “juicer” scene, were actually real and improvised by Dhar himself.
The Juicer in Hamza-Yalina’s Wedding
Gaurav revealed that his character was initially not supposed to appear in Hamza (Ranveer Singh) and Yalina Jamali’s (Sara Arjun) wedding sequence. However, Dhar decided to include Aalam Bhai and improvised a hilarious gift—a juicer—referencing Hamza’s past as a helper in his juice shop in Lyari.
“It is all Aditya Dhar. This is all him. The juicer bit was not in the script. In fact, I was initially not supposed to be in the wedding scene. But he took a few dates from me and said, ‘I would want to keep you in the shaadi scene also’. When we went on set, we were wondering about what gift Aalam would give to Hamza, then he said, ‘Juicer le ke aao’. Aditya Dhar keeps doing this ‘peak detailing’,” Gaurav said.
The scene quickly became a fan favorite, with many pausing the frame repeatedly to catch the comedic detail.

Landing the Role of Aalam Bhai
Gaurav Gera got the role through casting director Mukesh Chhabra, having auditioned for an earlier Aditya Dhar project that did not materialize. He expressed that the experience of working on Dhurandhar 2 exceeded his expectations:
“The first time I heard the script, I felt it was bang on. But then a lot depends on shooting and editing. The way it has been shot, edited, and scored is beyond my expectations. It’s top class. Even if I were not a part of this film, I would still have appreciated it,” he said.
Bringing Lyari to Bangkok
To recreate the Lyari locality of Karachi, Pakistan, the filmmakers set up a full juice shop in Bangkok, Thailand. The shop included a designated seating area and actual employees, adding authenticity to Aalam Bhai’s backstory and environment.
Fans Want More: Spin-Off Possibility
Gaurav revealed that fans are curious about Aalam Bhai’s origin story, exploring how he became Hamza’s mentor and caretaker. While a full spin-off is uncertain, the actor expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Dhar again:
“People are asking about Aalam’s backstory. It’s a good thought, I’ll leave it to people’s imagination. I would love to work in an Aalam Bhai spin-off. There’s so much love and thought that Aditya puts in his films. The clarity, exposure to cinema, and knowledge of international and Indian past… I find it rare. I had a great time and would love to be part of whatever he does next.”
Working with Ranveer Singh and the Ensemble
Gaurav also shared how the project changed his life:
“There are great films but this is personal… Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, it is a humbling and wonderful feeling.”
Dhurandhar 2 also stars R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and Danish Pandor, delivering a mix of action, drama, and comedic detailing that fans are raving about.
