The sudden demise of veteran Tamil actor, director, and screenwriter K Bhagyaraj has left the film industry in shock, with actor Trisha Krishnan sharing an emotional tribute revealing that she had shared a meal with him just a day before his passing.

Bhagyaraj, 73, died on Saturday following a cardiac arrest. His death comes shortly after he attended Khushbu Sundar’s daughter’s wedding in Goa, making the news even more unexpected for colleagues and fans who had recently seen him in good health.

Trisha Krishnan’s Emotional Tribute

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Trisha Krishnan expressed her disbelief and grief over the loss. She wrote, “RIP dear Bhagyaraj sir” along with a red heart emoji, adding that it was difficult to accept the news.

Trisha also revealed the emotional coincidence that left her shaken. She shared that she had met and eaten a meal with the veteran filmmaker just a day earlier, saying it was hard to process that he was no longer alive.

She extended her condolences to his family, including his wife, actor Poornima Bhagyaraj, and children Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Saranya Bhagyaraj, offering them strength during this difficult time.

A video from Khushbu Sundar’s daughter’s wedding in Goa has also surfaced online, showing Bhagyaraj warmly greeting superstar Chiranjeevi. The brief interaction, where the two exchanged smiles and shook hands, has now become an emotional memory for fans.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest at Chennai Hospital

According to reports, Bhagyaraj was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai’s Greenways area after suffering a cardiopulmonary arrest. Despite medical efforts, he could not be revived.

His passing comes just 17 days after the death of his mentor, acclaimed filmmaker Bharathiraja, marking another major loss for Tamil cinema in a short span of time.

Government Announces State Honours

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin expressed deep sorrow over Bhagyaraj’s demise, calling it an “irreplaceable loss” to the film industry. He also announced that the veteran filmmaker would be accorded state honours during his final rites in recognition of his immense contribution to cinema.

K Bhagyaraj, often referred to as the “King of Screenplay,” was known for transforming Tamil cinema with his unique storytelling style. He brought relatable middle-class characters to the forefront, blending humour, emotion, and social themes in a way that deeply resonated with audiences.
