Boney Kapoor Moves Madras High Court to Protect Sridevi’s Chennai Property
Producer Boney Kapoor, along with his daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, has approached the Madras High Court seeking to safeguard a Chennai property that belonged to the late actress Sridevi.
The plea challenges an earlier order by the Additional District Judge in Chengalpattu, which had refused to dismiss a plaint related to the property located near East Coast Road. The matter was heard by Justice TV Thamilselvi, who has scheduled the next hearing for March 26, 2026, while staying further proceedings in the district court until then.
Background of the Dispute
The controversy stems from a claim filed by Chandrabanu and her children, who allege entitlement to a share in the 4.7-acre property. They have also questioned the validity of the sale deeds through which Sridevi and her sister acquired the land.
In response, Boney Kapoor has described the claims as legally unsustainable, alleging an attempted “fraud” and asserting that key facts were deliberately withheld to mislead the court.
“The claims are legally unsustainable, and there has been an attempt to mislead the court by suppressing important facts,” Kapoor said.
Next Steps
The High Court is set to examine the matter further during the upcoming hearing, which will determine the future of the legal dispute over the iconic actress’s property. The case has attracted attention due to the prominence of the Kapoor family and the legacy of Sridevi in Indian cinema.
Fans and legal observers alike are closely watching the proceedings, as the case could have significant implications for property rights and inheritance disputes involving high-profile estates.
