Monalisa Bhosle, popularly known as the viral “Mahakumbh girl,” has addressed the online criticism surrounding her marriage to actor and model Farman Khan, clarifying that the wedding was conducted according to Hindu rituals and dismissing claims linking the union to the controversial “love jihad” narrative.

Her statement comes amid widespread social media reactions following news of her interfaith marriage, with many debating the implications of the union.
She Persuaded Farman Khan to Marry
Monalisa revealed that it was she who convinced Farman to marry her. She explained:
“My parents wanted to get me married to my aunt’s son, and I did not want to marry him as he is like a brother to me.”
She further emphasized:
“I got married according to Hindu rituals. It is not ‘love jihad’. I respect all religions and consider every religion equal.”
Farman Khan, originally from Maharashtra, confirmed that Monalisa had proposed first. Though he was initially hesitant, he eventually agreed to date her, and their relationship strengthened over time.
Marriage Ceremony at Kerala Temple
The couple tied the knot on March 11 at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Kerala. Monalisa hails from Indore, while Farman is from Maharashtra. Reports indicate that the two first connected via Facebook around six months ago, and their friendship gradually blossomed into romance.

Monalisa first rose to nationwide attention during the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela, where her videos and photographs went viral across social media platforms. Since then, she has maintained a strong online presence, often making headlines for her public appearances and personal updates.
