The couple’s wedding was an intimate affair, held on the terrace of their Mumbai home on June 4, while Hina was undergoing treatment for stage 3 breast cancer. Now, the actor has opened up about the emotional circumstances behind their sudden decision to get married.
During a conversation with tennis star Sania Mirza on her new show, Hina revisited memories of her wedding day. When Sania showed her a photograph from the ceremony, Hina smiled and described the marriage as a “random decision” that neither of them had planned in advance.
Hina Khan Says Her Health Situation Led to the Decision
Speaking about why they decided to get married, Hina explained that she and Rocky had been together for more than a decade and had not necessarily been planning a wedding. However, her health situation made her think about the uncertainty of the future.
Recalling the conversation with Rocky, Hina said, “Either you move ahead… you go get married to somebody, whoever you want to, or you better get married to me because I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow.”
She added that the decision came from the uncertainty she was experiencing at the time. Hina said she simply suggested that they move ahead with the marriage, and Rocky agreed without any hesitation.
When Sania asked whether the couple had really got married in just 15 minutes, Hina revealed that the ceremony had taken even less time.
“In less than that, actually,” she said.
The actor also reflected on how uncertainty is a part of everyone’s life, but her health journey had made the thought particularly immediate. She explained that she wanted to take the step with Rocky, and he was ready to do so.
From ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ to a 13-Year Relationship
Hina and Rocky first met on the sets of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, where Hina played the popular character Akshara and Rocky was working as a producer. Their professional association gradually turned into friendship and then a relationship.
The couple made their relationship public in 2017 and have remained together through the years. Rocky has been a constant source of support for Hina, particularly during her battle with breast cancer.
After dating for over 13 years, the two chose to make their relationship official in a simple and intimate ceremony in June 2025.
