Kiara Advani is gearing up for what appears to be one of the most challenging roles of her career with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. The recently released trailer has already created curiosity around her character Nadia, who appears intense, fearless and driven by revenge.
At the trailer launch in Bengaluru, Kiara opened up about how she landed the role and credited actor Yash and director Geetu Mohandas for seeing something in her that she herself had not fully discovered at the time.
Kiara credits Yash and Geetu for believing in her
Speaking about her journey with Toxic, Kiara said she genuinely believes Yash and Geetu “manifested” her for the role of Nadia. According to the actor, both of them trusted her ability to take on a character that demanded a completely different side of her personality and acting skills.
Kiara said, “I truly believe that Geetu and Yash manifested for me to be Nadia in this film. They saw it in me and believed I was capable of this much before I knew about that fearless leap that I was ready to take as an actor.”
For Kiara, the experience appears to have been more than just another film. She described the opportunity as something that pushed her outside her comfort zone and allowed her to discover a new level of confidence as a performer.
‘There will be a Kiara before Toxic and after Toxic’
The actor went on to describe the film as an important turning point in her career. She expressed gratitude to Yash and Geetu for creating an environment where she could experiment and explore the character without holding herself back.
Kiara said she believes there will be a “Kiara before Toxic and a Kiara after Toxic,” highlighting just how significant the experience has been for her.
She also spoke about the creative atmosphere on the sets and said the experience has changed the way she looks at her future projects. According to her, working on Toxic has made her more ambitious about the kind of roles and stories she wants to be part of going forward.
Her comments suggest that the film challenged her creatively and encouraged her to demand more from herself as an actor.
Kiara is excited for audiences to meet Nadia
While the trailer has offered glimpses of Nadia, Kiara has deliberately kept details about the character under wraps. She did not reveal much about her backstory or motivations, choosing instead to let audiences discover the character when they watch the film.
“I cannot wait for the world to experience Nadia. I don’t think I can describe her in one word. So, I’m just going to let the audience go and experience it,” she said.
The trailer has shown Kiara in a striking new avatar, with her character appearing to have a darker and more intense emotional journey. Her chemistry with Yash has also become a talking point, particularly after the release of the song Tabaahi.
A special experience with the entire team
Kiara also took the opportunity to praise the film’s ensemble cast and technical crew. She said it was a joy to work alongside everyone involved and appreciated the level of dedication brought to the project.
She described excellence as the baseline on the sets and expressed excitement about audiences finally seeing the work that the entire team has put into the film.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups stars Yash and Kiara Advani in the lead roles, along with Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria. The film has generated considerable anticipation because of its unusual visual style, ambitious scale and the combination of Yash and Kiara on screen.
For Kiara, however, Toxic appears to represent something more personal. The actor’s words suggest that Nadia has allowed her to take a fearless step into unfamiliar territory and discover possibilities within herself that she had not previously explored.
With the film set to arrive in theatres on August 26, audiences will soon find out whether the new avatar delivers the career-defining moment Kiara believes it could be.
