Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has reacted to the aftermath of the NEET paper leak protests, expressing criticism over the conduct of some demonstrators and the scenes that emerged from the agitation.
Taking to social media, Kangana described some of the videos from the protests as “ugliness” and “crass behaviour.” She said that watching the clips had left her wanting to take a break from the digital world, expressing disappointment over what she saw as inappropriate behaviour during and after the demonstrations.
In another post, the actor-politician claimed that the protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar left behind around 60 metric tonnes of waste. Her remarks came shortly after videos showing some members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) celebrating the conclusion of their 36-day-long protest started circulating online.
The videos sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users questioning the behaviour shown in the clips, while others focused on the larger issues raised by the student movement. Kangana’s comments added another layer to the ongoing debate around the protests and their conclusion.
The NEET-related protests had continued for over a month, with students and supporters demanding action over alleged examination irregularities and calling for reforms in the education system. The agitation ended after representatives of the CJP said they received assurances from the government regarding some of their demands.
While the protest movement drew support from several public figures, Kangana’s criticism highlighted concerns over the way some participants behaved during the final phase of the demonstrations. Her statements have since triggered discussions online, with opinions divided between those supporting her remarks and those defending the protesters’ cause.
