Actor Prakash Raj has once again expressed his support for climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, praising him after he ended his 26-day hunger strike linked to the ongoing student protests over alleged NEET examination irregularities.
Sharing a heartfelt message on social media, Prakash Raj thanked Wangchuk for his sacrifice and described him as the “conscience of the nation.”
Wangchuk announced the end of his indefinite fast on Thursday after receiving written assurances from the Central government. The activist said he ended the fast in the presence of Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, along with senior members of the Ladakh Apex Body. He also revealed that more than 65 Members of Parliament from different political parties had appealed to him to call off the protest.
In his message, Wangchuk said the decision came after several rounds of discussions with the government and urged people to maintain peace while continuing to remain vigilant.
Reacting to the announcement, Prakash Raj reshared Wangchuk’s post on X and wrote, “Thank you, Sonam Wangchuk sir, for your sacrifice and for being the conscience of the nation.”

Prakash Raj has been one of the earliest and most vocal supporters of the student movement. Earlier this month, he visited Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, where he met Wangchuk and interacted with students participating in the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest.
Sharing photographs from the protest, the actor had said he stood in solidarity with the country’s youth. During his visit, he addressed protesters, interacted with students, and posed for pictures with Wangchuk.
The actor has consistently demanded accountability over the alleged NEET examination irregularities and has supported calls for reforms in the education system.
In an earlier interview, Prakash Raj also spoke about the silence of several film personalities on the issue. He said that moments like these reveal who stands with the people and added that history remembers not only those who speak up but also those who choose to remain silent.
According to the actor, public figures with influence have a responsibility to use their voices when important issues affect the country’s youth.
Apart from Prakash Raj, several other celebrities have also extended support to the student movement in recent weeks. Actors Shabana Azmi and Poonam Pandey participated in protest events, while personalities including Hrithik Roshan, Vishal Dadlani, Sonakshi Sinha, and Chinmayi Sripaada have voiced their solidarity on social media.
Although Sonam Wangchuk has ended his hunger strike, the larger movement demanding transparency, accountability, and reforms in the examination system continues. With growing support from public figures and citizens alike, the issue remains at the centre of national discussion.
