Shraddha Kapoor is all set to explore a completely different world with her upcoming film Eetha. The makers have released the trailer of the musical drama, giving audiences a first glimpse of Shraddha in the role of Eetha Bai, a talented Lavani performer who fights against several challenges to make her mark. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is inspired by the life of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, the renowned Maharashtrian Lavani and Tamasha artist.

Presented by Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations, Eetha takes audiences into the colourful and energetic world of Lavani and Tamasha. However, the film is not just about music, dance and performances. It also explores the personal struggles of a woman who faces betrayal, heartbreak and difficult circumstances while trying to establish her identity as an artist.

The trailer shows Shraddha in a powerful new avatar as Eetha Bai. One of the most striking dialogues highlights the character’s determination: “If I die without trying, I’ll be remembered as helpless. But if I die dancing, I’ll be remembered as a legend.” The line gives a glimpse into the fearless spirit of a woman who refuses to give up on her passion, no matter how difficult life becomes.

Along with showcasing Lavani performances and the traditional world of Tamasha, the film also highlights Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage. It brings attention to the women who have dedicated their lives to keeping these traditional art forms alive. The trailer also features an interesting conversation about the nauvari saree, explaining how it represents much more than clothing. It is connected to the pride, identity and traditions of Marathi women.

Talking about playing the titular role, Shraddha Kapoor said that she felt connected to the character as she learned more about her journey from director Laxman Utekar. She described Eetha as a woman whose art, courage and individuality make her unforgettable. The actress also expressed excitement about reuniting with Maddock Films after the success of Stree and Stree 2. She praised the team’s hard work and said she was looking forward to audiences experiencing the film on the big screen.

Producer Dinesh Vijan also spoke about why the story of Eetha was important to bring to cinema. He explained that while Lavani performances and their artists have been celebrated for generations, the personal journeys, sacrifices and struggles of the women behind the art have not received enough attention in mainstream Hindi cinema. According to him, the film is an opportunity to introduce audiences to an extraordinary cultural world and the women who helped shape it.

Director Laxman Utekar, who recently delivered the blockbuster Chhaava, is now returning with a completely different subject. Speaking about the film, he explained that although Chhaava and Eetha have very different settings, both stories are rooted in the extraordinary strength of their central characters. He described Eetha as the story of an artist who became a legacy and said the team has brought together authenticity, emotion and scale to create a memorable cinematic experience.

Karishma Sharma, producer at Kathputli Creations, also highlighted the importance of bringing stories rooted in India’s cultural heritage to the big screen. She said that Eetha combines music, drama, emotion and spectacle while introducing audiences to a remarkable story from Indian culture.

The film also holds special significance as it features one of the late Nana Patekar’s last performances. His presence adds another important reason for audiences to look forward to the musical drama.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Laxman Utekar, Eetha features music composed by the popular musical duo Ajay-Atul. The film is presented by Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations and is scheduled to release in cinemas on December 4, 2026.

With Shraddha Kapoor stepping into the world of Lavani, a powerful female-led story and Laxman Utekar bringing another culturally rooted subject to the big screen, Eetha is shaping up to be a different cinematic experience. The film aims to celebrate not just an art form but also the women whose talent, courage and dedication have kept it alive for generations.
