Popular singer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has opened up about one of the darkest phases of his life, revealing how Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar repeatedly warned him about his growing drug addiction during the peak of his career.

During a candid conversation on the ABtalks podcast, Honey Singh spoke honestly about fame, arrogance, substance abuse and his mental health struggles. Looking back at the period between 2011 and 2014, the rapper admitted that despite being at the height of success, he was mentally lost and deeply unhappy.

Honey Singh revealed that massive fame and money at a young age changed his behaviour completely. He confessed that he became arrogant, disrespectful and consumed by his own success. According to the singer, he even started believing he was unstoppable.

Talking about that phase, Honey Singh admitted that he was not in his senses and was living in a “demonic state of mind.” He said he disliked the version of himself he had become during those years.

The rapper also clarified that he does not blame the entertainment industry for his downfall. Instead, he accepted that his own choices and mindset were responsible for his struggles.

During the podcast, Honey Singh fondly remembered working closely with some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. He described them as grounded and simple people who genuinely cared about him.

According to Honey Singh, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar were especially concerned about his lifestyle and repeatedly advised him to stay away from drugs and destructive habits.

Recalling Shah Rukh Khan’s warning, Honey Singh shared that the superstar often told him, “This is going to spoil you, finish you and destroy you.” The singer admitted that despite receiving advice from such respected stars, he failed to understand the seriousness of the situation at that time.

Honey Singh’s downfall became visible after the success of Desi Kalakaar. At the peak of his popularity, he suddenly disappeared from the music industry, leaving fans shocked and confused. Later, it was revealed that he had been battling bipolar disorder along with severe substance abuse problems.

In earlier interviews, Honey Singh had openly spoken about how dangerous his addiction had become. He revealed that he was smoking multiple joints daily, consuming excessive alcohol and completely losing control over his life. He even admitted that during one incident, he became so intoxicated that he physically harmed a friend without realising it.

Eventually, Honey Singh stepped away from music, public appearances and social life to focus entirely on recovery. He returned to Delhi and underwent treatment with the help of doctors and therapists.

After years away from the spotlight, the rapper made a comeback in 2023 with Kalaastar, a sequel to his iconic track Desi Kalakaar featuring Sonakshi Sinha.

In recent times, Honey Singh has slowly rebuilt his career through music tours, live performances and new releases. He also launched his album 51 Glorious Days and recently sang the track Jhoom Sharabi for De De Pyaar De 2 starring Ajay Devgn.

Today, Honey Singh’s journey stands as a powerful reminder of how fame and success can sometimes hide deep personal struggles. His honesty about addiction, mental health and recovery has resonated with many fans, who continue to support him as he rebuilds both his life and career.
