Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi Likely Delayed, August Release on Cards
The makers of Maatrubhumi, starring Salman Khan, are yet to officially announce a new release date, but the film is now expected to hit theatres in August, according to industry sources.
Originally titled Battle of Galwan, the film was earlier scheduled for an April 17 release, strategically timed around the festival of Eid. However, recent developments suggest that the release has been pushed, with the Independence Day weekend in August being considered as a potential new window.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salma Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films, Maatrubhumi also features Chitrangda Singh in a key role.

Sources indicate that the delay comes in the wake of the film’s recent title change and associated modifications. The project was officially renamed from Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi on March 14, coinciding with a thaw in India-China relations. Announcing the change, Salman Khan had shared a new poster on Instagram with the tagline, “May War Rest In Peace.”
The film is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian Army personnel and Chinese troops. In the film, Salman Khan essays the role of Colonel Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who led Indian troops during the confrontation while enforcing a disengagement agreement at the border.
The cast also includes Abhilash Chaudhary and Ankur Bhatia in pivotal roles, with music composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan was last seen in Sikandar, directed by A. R. Murugadoss and co-starring Rashmika Mandanna.
While fans await an official confirmation, Maatrubhumi continues to generate buzz as one of the most anticipated releases, especially given its patriotic theme and real-life inspiration.
