Actor Ranveer Singh once again showcased his intense method acting approach while preparing for his role in Dhurandhar 2, with new behind-the-scenes details revealing a striking blend of spirituality, meditation, and high-energy Punjabi hip-hop.

In an exclusive conversation with NDTV, prosthetic artist Karandeep Singh, who worked closely on the film, shared insights into Ranveer’s daily routine on the sets of the Aditya Dhar directorial. According to him, the actor’s preparation for his character Hamza Ali Mazari went far beyond physical transformation, extending deeply into mental and emotional conditioning.

Karandeep revealed that Ranveer would begin his day with spiritual grounding, often chanting “Om” and identifying as a devotee of Lord Shiva. After arriving on set following his workout, the actor would spend time centering himself before long prosthetic makeup sessions that lasted hours.

“He used to get centred first. He is a Shiv ji bhakt. He used to start his day with ‘Om’ chanting… he would try to meditate,” Karandeep said, explaining how meditation became an essential part of Ranveer’s preparation process.

However, the calm start would soon shift into a completely different energy. Once the spiritual routine was complete, Ranveer would transition into listening to Punjabi hip-hop tracks, particularly songs by Canadian artist Naseeb, which helped him tap into a more aggressive, “beast mode” mindset required for his character.

“And then he will come down to Punjabi hip hop like a gangster song… great beats, great lyrics,” Karandeep added, noting how music became a crucial tool in shaping the character’s intensity.

The prosthetic artist also recalled light-hearted moments during makeup sessions where music discussions became part of the routine. Ranveer would often debate playlists, switching between artists like Sidhu Moosewala-style tracks and Naseeb’s music, blending creative energy with preparation.

Karandeep further revealed that some of the music Ranveer explored during preparation even found its way into promotional material, with the actor securing rights for certain tracks.

According to him, this shift from meditation to aggressive music perfectly captured the duality of Ranveer’s process—calm spiritual focus followed by explosive energy.

“That was the kind of energy when he is going out for war… so that was his beast mode,” he said.

The revelations highlight Ranveer Singh’s immersive approach to acting, where physical transformation, emotional depth, and carefully curated soundscapes come together to build his characters. For Dhurandhar 2, this balance of devotion and intensity appears to have been key in shaping his portrayal of Hamza.
