Actor and dancer Nora Fatehi is facing a ₹3 crore civil defamation suit filed by aviation company Deniz Aviation over comments she allegedly made about an aircraft on social media.
According to the company’s claims, Nora made remarks about the aircraft after travelling on a Mumbai-Jaipur flight in December last year. The company has alleged that her comments, in which she reportedly described the aircraft as a “miniature” toy and a “Lego airplane,” affected its reputation and business.
Deniz Aviation has claimed that the remarks had a negative impact on its goodwill and allegedly resulted in booking cancellations. The company has therefore sought damages of ₹3 crore from the actor.
The controversy reportedly began after a video connected to Nora’s flight experience surfaced on social media. Following the incident, her comments allegedly attracted attention online, eventually leading to the legal dispute with the aviation company.
Deniz Aviation, meanwhile, has maintained that the aircraft involved was a Cessna Citation CJ2, which was DGCA-certified and being operated legally. The company has argued that the aircraft met the required regulatory standards and has sought legal relief over what it considers damaging remarks.
Apart from monetary compensation, Deniz Aviation has also reportedly sought the removal of the disputed social media post and a public clarification from Nora Fatehi regarding the comments.
Case to Come Up Before Court
The matter is scheduled to come up before the Gandhinagar Court on September 25, where further proceedings are expected.
For now, the case remains a legal dispute, and the allegations made by the aviation company have not been established as final findings against Nora. The court will consider the claims and responses from both sides before reaching any decision.
The case has also raised questions about how celebrities’ comments about brands and services can potentially affect businesses, particularly when such remarks are shared publicly on social media.
