Salman Khan’s much-awaited military drama ‘Maatrubhumi’ may face another delay in its theatrical release, with reports suggesting that the film could now be pushed to 2027 due to ongoing clearance challenges and changing geopolitical circumstances.
The film, which was earlier announced under the title ‘Battle Of Galwan’, is based on the 2020 India-China border clashes in Galwan Valley. The project has reportedly attracted attention from officials due to its sensitive subject matter and references to international relations between the two countries.
According to reports, the Ministry of Defence has raised concerns regarding certain aspects of the film, leading to delays in obtaining the required approvals. While the makers are still making efforts to bring the film to theatres by the end of this year, the pending clearances could impact its release plans.
A source reportedly revealed that resolving the issues soon may still not guarantee an immediate release, as securing a suitable theatrical window has become challenging. With several major films already occupying important release dates, finding the right slot for a big-budget project like Maatrubhumi has become a difficult task.
The film could potentially benefit from a long festive weekend around Dussehra, which falls on October 20 this year. However, with other major releases also planned around the same period, the makers will have to carefully consider the timing to ensure a successful box office run.
If the clearance issues continue, the film may have to move its release to next year or even 2027. The project was initially scheduled to hit theatres on April 17, but has already gone through multiple postponements.
Directed as a patriotic military drama, Maatrubhumi also stars Chitrangada Singh alongside Salman Khan. The film has generated significant excitement among fans, especially due to its subject and Salman’s portrayal of a character inspired by real events.
While audiences are eagerly waiting for an official announcement from the makers, the film’s final release date will depend on the resolution of the ongoing approval process and the availability of a suitable theatrical window. For now, fans may have to wait a little longer to witness Salman Khan’s next big-screen outing.
