Kangana Ranaut has once again grabbed attention on social media, this time by sharing a nostalgic glimpse from her school days. Amid the ongoing discussion around the recently released Ramayana trailer and Sai Pallavi’s portrayal of Sita, the actor and BJP MP posted a throwback picture of herself dressed as the mythological character.

The photograph, reportedly from 1997, shows a young Kangana participating in a fancy-dress competition. Dressed in a traditional red sari, she can be seen posing as Sita, while another student appears dressed as Lord Ram and a third child plays Hanuman.

Kangana shared the picture on her Instagram Stories and also mentioned the names of the students who participated in the performance. In another slide, she shared a closer look at the photograph and humorously posed with her palm raised as though offering blessings.

Along with the image, Kangana wrote, “My aashirvad to all liberals”, adding laughing emojis. Her caption quickly drew attention because of her history of making outspoken political and social comments.

Kangana’s post comes amid Ramayana discussions

Kangana’s throwback comes just after the trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana was released. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.

Sai Pallavi’s appearance in the trailer has generated considerable discussion online, with viewers sharing opinions about her look, expressions and Hindi dialogue delivery. The film has already become one of the most talked-about upcoming Indian productions because of its ambitious scale and star-studded cast.

Kangana’s decision to share her own childhood portrayal of Sita therefore attracted additional attention, with many linking the post to the current conversation surrounding the film.

Kangana’s recent comments on Gen Z protests

The actor has been in the news over the past few days for her strong criticism of a section of young people participating in the ongoing CJP-led protests.

Kangana described some of the protest-related social media content as “puke-inducing” and used the phrase “Generation Gutter” while expressing her disapproval of the language and behaviour seen in some videos.

Her remarks have led to criticism from several public figures, including actor Sonu Sood, while CJP spokesperson Saurav Das also responded to her comments.

Das criticised Kangana’s remarks and argued that young protesters should not be dismissed or insulted because of their age. He also questioned some of her comments about Gen Z and said that younger generations have contributed significantly to the country.

Kangana continues to speak her mind

Known for her outspoken views, Kangana has frequently found herself at the centre of social media debates. Since entering politics, her comments on entertainment, public issues and political matters have regularly sparked strong reactions from both supporters and critics.

Her latest Sita throwback is now receiving attention not only because of its nostalgic value but also because of the pointed caption accompanying it. While the picture offers a glimpse into Kangana’s childhood and her early connection with acting and performance, the “aashirvad” remark has added a political and humorous edge to what would otherwise have been a simple throwback post.

On the professional front, Kangana was last seen in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, a film inspired by the real-life bravery of hospital workers during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
