Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has spoken out in support of actress Trisha Krishnan following a controversy involving DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Speaking to reporters after attending a district development, coordination and monitoring meeting in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana discussed the larger issue of how women are treated in public life. Her remarks were shared by news agency PTI.
Kangana said that society needs to understand that questioning a woman’s character is a tactic often used to bring her down. According to her, this pattern is not limited to one place and can be seen across the world, particularly when women are working, successful, or hold positions of authority.
Without directly naming Trisha or Udhayanidhi Stalin, Kangana referred to the controversy in Tamil Nadu and said that when personal matters involving a man and a woman become public, it is often the woman who faces the greater character-based scrutiny.

Udhayanidhi Stalin subsequently faced criticism over remarks made in response to the chants.
