Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has received official approval to construct a new six-storey residential building in Mumbai’s Bandra area, sparking speculation about whether the actor will move out of his iconic long-time residence, Galaxy Apartments.
However, there is no official confirmation that Salman Khan plans to shift his home. The actor has been living at Galaxy Apartments since 1974, and it remains closely associated with his public image and family life.
Approval for New Family Home in Bandra
According to reports, the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) granted approval for the project on June 16. The new residential building will come up in Bandra’s Chimbai area, not far from Galaxy Apartments.
The plot is registered in the name of Salman Khan’s mother, Salma Khan. A two-storey structure that previously existed on the land, reportedly built before 1956, was demolished after being declared structurally unsafe.
The upcoming project will include a ground floor, stilt parking, and six upper floors. The total built-up area is expected to be around 1,014 square metres, and the development will be carried out by Sach Developers.
Earlier, the project had already received the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Intimation of Disapproval (IOD) in October 2025. With MCZMA clearance now in place, the construction process has moved closer to beginning.
Environmental Conditions Attached
As part of the approval conditions, authorities have ensured that no existing trees on the property will be cut during construction. Instead, new trees of local species will be planted around the site, maintaining environmental balance.
Security and Privacy Considerations
The development comes more than two years after Salman Khan’s security was significantly heightened following a firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments, allegedly linked to members of the Bishnoi gang. The actor currently enjoys Y+ security cover.
Given these concerns, the new property’s location in a quieter lane away from the main road is expected to offer improved privacy and enhanced security for the Khan family.
Will Salman Khan Move Out?
While the approval of the new home has fueled rumours about a possible shift from Galaxy Apartments, there has been no official statement from Salman Khan or his team confirming any relocation. For now, Galaxy Apartments continues to remain his primary residence.
As construction moves forward, fans will be watching closely to see whether the superstar eventually makes the new sea-facing Bandra home his full-time address.
