The film industry came together in Mumbai on Thursday to remember veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 74 after a battle with blood cancer. Among those paying tribute to the actor was his son, Vikramaditya Singh Rawat, who struggled to hold back his emotions while speaking about his father and the legacy he left behind.

At the prayer meet, Vikramaditya remembered Pradeep Rawat as a man of honour, dignity and strong values. Speaking to ANI after the ceremony, he said that no matter how many words he uses to describe his father, they would never be enough.

Vikramaditya also spoke about the special bond he shared with his father and said that if he were ever given the opportunity to choose his father again, he would choose Pradeep Rawat without hesitation. His emotional words reflected how deeply the actor’s death has affected his family.

For Vikramaditya, his father’s legacy is not only about his successful acting career but also about the values he lived by. He said that Pradeep always believed that his son would one day make him proud, and he now wants to fulfil that belief by taking his father’s legacy forward.

He expressed his determination to follow the path his father created and make his name even bigger in the years ahead. For the family, Pradeep Rawat’s contribution to cinema will remain an important part of his memory, while his personal qualities will continue to inspire those closest to him.

A career spanning four decades

Pradeep Rawat had a career that stretched across more than four decades. Although he worked extensively in Hindi cinema, he also became a familiar face in Telugu and Tamil films.

One of his most memorable performances came in Ghajini, where he played the intimidating antagonist Ram. The role brought him widespread recognition among Hindi film audiences and became one of the defining performances of his career.

He was also part of acclaimed and commercially successful films such as Sarfarosh, Lagaan, Naayak and Sye. His ability to portray powerful negative characters as well as supporting roles made him a respected performer across different film industries.

In recent years, audiences saw him in Chhaava, where he portrayed Yesaji Kank. Even after decades in the industry, Rawat continued to remain active and took on roles across different languages.

Colleagues remember Pradeep Rawat

At the prayer meeting, several of Rawat’s colleagues remembered the actor with affection and respect.

Actor Raghubir Yadav described his death as a major loss for the film industry. He remembered Rawat as an intelligent and talented performer whose work would continue to live on through his films.

Mukesh Rishi also recalled his long association with Rawat. The two actors first worked together in Sarfarosh more than two decades ago. Their professional relationship continued as both actors later worked extensively in South Indian cinema.

Rishi remembered the years they spent working together and the friendship that developed between them. His tribute reflected the respect Rawat earned from fellow actors throughout his long career.

A legacy that lives on

Pradeep Rawat leaves behind his wife, Kalyani Rawat, and son Vikramaditya Rawat. While his family continues to cope with the loss, his body of work ensures that his contribution to Indian cinema will not be forgotten.

For Vikramaditya, carrying his father’s legacy forward is now a personal responsibility as well as an emotional promise. His words at the prayer meet showed that beyond the actor remembered for powerful screen performances, Pradeep Rawat was a beloved father whose influence will remain with his family for years to come.

His films, memorable characters and the respect he earned from his colleagues will continue to keep his memory alive among audiences across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil cinema.
