Kushal Tanwar, popularly known as Gullu, became a familiar face to audiences after winning Roadies Double Cross. Now, he is making headlines as a contestant on Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 20, where he has started opening up about different parts of his personal life.
In a recent episode, Gullu spoke about a difficult chapter that he had largely kept private. He revealed that his marriage ended after just around four-and-a-half to five months and admitted that the experience was painful, even though he described it differently from a typical breakup.
Gullu opens up about his short-lived marriage
While discussing his personal life, Gullu said that the end of his marriage was a heartbreak for him, even though it was not the kind of heartbreak usually associated with a breakup.
“It wasn’t a breakup-type heartbreak, but still a heartbreak,” he said.
Gullu explained that he struggled to talk about the situation with people around him because many felt that the decision he had taken was wrong. However, he said that he personally believed it was the right decision for him.
“I couldn’t tell anyone because everyone felt it was wrong, but according to me it was the right thing to do for myself. I had to take that step for myself,” he shared.
‘Bahut tagdi cheez se nikal kar aaya hoon’
Gullu became emotional while describing what he had gone through. He said he had come out of a very difficult situation and suggested that leaving it had been necessary for him.
“Bahut tagdi cheez se nikal kar aaya hoon main. Wahaan se bhaag ke aaya hoon main jaise taise,” he said.
He also revealed that he had been married for only around four-and-a-half to five months before the marriage came to an end.
Gullu did not share detailed information about what happened in the marriage, choosing instead to focus on his own experience and the decision he made for himself.
Gullu talks about pressure to get married
During the conversation, Gullu also spoke about the social and family pressure surrounding marriage, particularly in his community.
He explained that marriages often happen at a young age on his side and that there can be constant pressure on people to settle down.
“Humari side naa aaj bhi shaadiyan jaldi karte hain. Pressure rehta hai ki aap aur karoge kya?” he said.
He further explained how marriage can sometimes become the expected answer when someone is not sure what they want to do with their life.
“Aap kuch kar nahi rahe toh shaadi kar lo,” he added.
A different side of Gullu on Bigg Boss 20
Gullu’s revelation gives viewers a glimpse into a side of his life that is very different from the confident contestant they have seen on reality television.
From winning Roadies Double Cross to entering the Bigg Boss 20 house, Gullu has built his journey through reality shows. But inside the Bigg Boss house, he is now also sharing personal experiences that have shaped him.
His comments about his marriage have sparked a conversation around personal choices, family expectations and the courage it can take to walk away from a situation when someone believes it is necessary for their own well-being.
Rather than revealing every detail of his past, Gullu chose to speak about what the experience meant to him—and why, despite what others thought, he felt he had to take that decision for himself.
