Krishnamachari Srikkanth Sparks Debate with “Worst Batter’s Tag” Remark on Riyan Parag and Ajinkya Rahane in IPL 2026

Former India World Cup winner Krishnamachari Srikkanth has once again grabbed headlines for his blunt and unfiltered commentary during the IPL 2026 season, this time targeting Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag and Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane with a harsh assessment of their batting form.

Srikkanth, known for his outspoken analysis on digital platforms, did not hold back while reviewing Parag’s performances this season. The young all-rounder has struggled with the bat, registering scores of 14*, 8, 20, 3, 4, and 12 in his recent outings, failing to provide consistent impact for his team.

“Parag, as usual, is fit only for his stylish walks after doing nothing with bat and ball,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

The conversation took a sharper turn when his son, Anirudha Srikkanth, asked him to compare Parag’s form with that of Rahane, who has also endured an inconsistent season with scores of 67, 8*, 8, 41, 28, 0, and 0.

“They are fighting for the worst batter’s tag,” Srikkanth responded bluntly. “Parag did well one season and that is it.”

The former cricketer further criticised Parag’s leadership and on-field decisions, particularly questioning his tactical use of bowlers in key matches.

“He’s only there for style. He did nothing with the bat and then spoke at the presentation. He didn’t even bowl Ravindra Jadeja an over and gave some explanation. Is there a rule that a left-arm spinner can’t bowl to a left-hander? It’s absurd,” he added.

Despite his criticism of individual players, Srikkanth also acknowledged strong team performances in the league. He praised Mumbai Indians’ dominant 99-run win over Gujarat Titans, calling it a potential turning point in their campaign.

“MI have the ability to do well in big matches. After this, you cannot write them off,” he said, while also noting that Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants are effectively out of playoff contention.

Looking ahead, Srikkanth backed Sunrisers Hyderabad in their upcoming clash against Delhi Capitals but pointed out concerns in DC’s batting lineup at No. 3.

“SRH will be favourites. DC have a No. 3 problem,” he remarked, referring to Karun Nair’s role in the batting order.

Srikkanth’s sharp comments have once again sparked debate among fans, with many divided over whether his analysis is constructive criticism or overly harsh judgment in the high-pressure IPL environment.
