A part of Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s bungalow in Juhu, Mumbai, has reportedly been demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over alleged unauthorised construction. The civic body’s action comes days after it issued a stop-work notice concerning renovation work at the property, including plans for a proposed salon and spa.

According to a report by NDTV, the BMC took action at the couple’s 7,802-square-foot bungalow located in Kapole Co-operative Housing Society in Juhu. The civic body alleged that internal alterations, partition walls, window modifications and other structural changes were being carried out without the necessary municipal permissions.

BMC Had Issued a Stop-Work Notice

The development follows a stop-work notice issued by the BMC on September 10. As previously reported by Hindustan Times, the notice was issued under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, directing that construction work be stopped immediately and that the required documents and permissions be submitted.

However, according to the reports, the alleged construction activity continued even after the notice was served, prompting further action by the civic body.

Housing Society Raised Objections to Commercial Use

The BMC’s action followed a complaint from the Kapole Co-operative Housing Society, whose members reportedly objected to the property being leased for commercial use. Residents expressed concerns about the possible impact of a salon and spa on the residential neighbourhood.

Their concerns reportedly included increased customer movement, parking difficulties, security issues and noise on the society’s narrow internal roads.

Local corporator Sudha Singh also stated that the BMC’s Building and Factory Department had found that the necessary permission for the proposed commercial use had not been produced. The civic body subsequently sought relevant documents from the property owners and issued the stop-work notice after the required permissions were not provided.

The Devgn family had reportedly sought four weeks to respond to the notice. The reported demolition marks a further development in the matter, which centres on alleged unauthorised alterations and the proposed commercial use of the bungalow. The allegations should not be treated as a final determination of any legal dispute.

Ajay Devgn’s Upcoming Projects

On the professional front, Ajay Devgn has several projects lined up. He is associated with Golmaal 5, the next instalment of Rohit Shetty’s popular comedy franchise. His other upcoming projects include Ranger and Chauhaan.

While the BMC matter has drawn attention to the couple’s Juhu property, further developments will depend on the civic process and any response or documentation submitted by the property owners.
