IPL 2026: Kyle Jamieson Penalised After Fiery Send-Off to Teenage Batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken swift action against Kyle Jamieson following his aggressive on-field conduct during the IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.

The Delhi Capitals pacer found himself under scrutiny after giving a fiery send-off to Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi an incident that quickly went viral and drew criticism across social media.

As per an official IPL release, Jamieson has been handed one demerit point along with a warning for breaching Level 1 of the league’s Code of Conduct. The violation falls under Article 2.5, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player.”

The incident took place in just the second over of the first innings. After dismissing the young batter, Jamieson was seen approaching him in an aggressive manner, an act deemed capable of provoking a reaction. Given the age of the batter and the nature of the send-off, the moment quickly became a major talking point.

Jamieson admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Rajeev Seth, avoiding any further escalation of disciplinary action.

Despite the controversy, the match result went in Delhi Capitals’ favour, as they comfortably defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets to register their fourth win of the season.

While on-field aggression is not uncommon in T20 cricket, the incident has once again highlighted the fine line players must walk especially when emotions run high and younger players are involved.
