Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shines With 26-Ball 78, Gets Grounded Advice After Match-Winning Knock

Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to take IPL 2026 by storm, smashing a blistering 78 off just 26 balls to guide his side to a comfortable chase of 201 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The 15-year-old’s fearless innings ensured Rajasthan Royals sealed the victory with two overs to spare, further cementing his status as one of the most exciting young talents in the tournament.

“Play the Ball, Not the Bowler”

Speaking after the match, Sooryavanshi revealed the simple mindset behind his explosive batting.

“I just try to back my strengths and execute what I have done in practice. Of course, in the back of my mind, I know who the bowler is. But then, I try to play the ball and not the bowler,” he said.

Despite his aggressive approach, the youngster emphasized the importance of staying focused and grounded, crediting his father Sanjiv and Rajasthan Royals support staff member Romi Bhinder for constant guidance.

“My father keeps on guiding me. Here, my guardian is Romi sir. They keep on telling me that the journey is long. So, I have to be focused on my game and not anything else,” he added.

“Zyada Idhar Udhar Nahi”: Advice From Murali Kartik

Former India spinner Murali Kartik also had a word of advice for the young prodigy during the post-match interaction, urging him to remain humble amid rising fame.

“All of India is blessing you. Always remain the same, as your parents have taught you. Zyada idhar udhar nahi (No need to focus on other things),” Kartik told him.

Hunger for Improvement Despite Match-Winning Knock

Interestingly, Sooryavanshi admitted he was disappointed after getting out on 78, even though he had already put his team in a commanding position alongside Dhruv Jurel.

“If I stay in the middle, I know we can reach the target an over or two earlier. So, if I get out playing a loose shot, it disappoints me,” he said, reflecting his hunger for perfection.

Orange Cap Holder Continues Dream Run

Following his stunning performance, Sooryavanshi currently holds the Orange Cap, having amassed 200 runs in just four matches. His consistency and fearless batting have been key to Rajasthan Royals’ strong run in the tournament so far.

With talent, temperament, and the right guidance, the young star looks set for an exciting journey ahead in the IPL and beyond.
