Riddhima’s First Bollywood Film at 45
For years, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni stayed away from films despite belonging to one of Bollywood’s most iconic families. While her brother Ranbir Kapoor became a leading Bollywood star, Riddhima focused on her career in fashion and jewellery design.
Now, after decades away from cinema, she is making her acting debut with Daadi Ki Shaadi.
Last year, after completing the film’s shoot, Riddhima shared an emotional note on social media describing the experience as one of the most special moments of her life. She wrote that the 52-day shoot brought together over 200 people to create a heartwarming and entertaining family film filled with laughter, emotions, dance, and celebration.
Interestingly, not just Riddhima, but even her daughter Samaira is making her acting debut in the film. During a recent promotional interaction, Neetu Kapoor revealed that she initially burst out laughing when the makers asked whether Riddhima would be interested in acting. According to Neetu, Riddhima herself laughed loudly at the idea of entering Bollywood at 45. However, after some thought, she eventually decided to take on the challenge and become part of the project.
About Daadi Ki Shaadi
Directed by Ashish R Mohan, Daadi Ki Shaadi is a family comedy-drama produced by RTake Studios and BeingU Studios.
The film stars Kapil Sharma, Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, R. Sarathkumar, Tejasswi Kolhapure, and Sadia Khateeb in key roles.
The trailer shows a fun family conflict where Kapil Sharma’s wedding plans get disrupted after Sadia Khateeb’s grandmother, played by Neetu Kapoor, decides to get married herself. The family then scrambles to stop the marriage, leading to chaos, comedy, and emotional moments.
The film is set to release in theatres on May 8, coinciding with Mother’s Day.
Daadi Ki Shaadi, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni begins a completely new chapter in her life and career. Backed by family support and positive early reactions, her debut has already generated curiosity among audiences eager to see another member of the Kapoor family on the big screen.
And if Aamir Khan’s reaction is anything to go by, Riddhima may have surprised many with her natural screen presence in her very first film.
