Katrina Kaif recently made a rare public appearance with her husband, Vicky Kaushal, at the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations. While many fans were happy to see the couple together, Katrina’s post-pregnancy appearance soon became a topic of discussion on social media.

Instead of focusing on the festive celebration, some social media users began comparing Katrina’s recent pictures with her older photos and commenting on changes in her appearance. Much of the conversation revolved around her weight and body after pregnancy, with some people making unnecessary remarks about the way she looked.

Katrina, however, also received plenty of support from fans who felt that there was nothing wrong with her appearance. Many pointed out that a woman’s body can naturally change after pregnancy and that there is no reason to expect every woman to look exactly the same before and after becoming a mother.

Amid the discussion, Ali Zafar, Katrina’s co-star from Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, also spoke about the larger issue of judging people based on their appearance. While discussing the conversation around unrealistic beauty standards, Ali urged people, particularly men, to look within themselves and recognise where they may need to make changes.

He said that everyone makes mistakes in life and nobody is perfect, but what matters is recognising those mistakes and correcting them. Ali also criticised the idea of judging someone simply because their appearance does not match society’s expectations.

The actor highlighted that people may be going through personal struggles that others know nothing about. He stressed the importance of being kind, compassionate, understanding, accepting and appreciative towards others instead of quickly judging them.

Ali also said that he would feel the same way if he ever criticised someone based on their looks. His message was simple: every woman has her own life and her own journey, including experiences from her past, present and future. People should allow women to live their lives without constantly judging their appearance.

Katrina’s recent appearance has once again opened up a much bigger conversation about how women are treated after pregnancy. A woman’s body does not remain exactly the same throughout her life, and pregnancy and motherhood can bring many physical changes.

What is concerning is how quickly social media users turn these natural changes into a subject of public discussion. Women are often expected to “bounce back” immediately after pregnancy, as if their bodies are supposed to meet a particular beauty standard.

Katrina looked happy and comfortable during the celebration, but instead of appreciating the moment, some people chose to focus on her weight. She has also received support from people who believe that a woman should not be made to feel ashamed simply because her body has changed.

The bigger question is: Is it really right to troll or body-shame a woman simply because she has gained weight after pregnancy? Every woman deserves the freedom to experience motherhood without feeling pressured to prove that she still looks exactly the same as before.
