Bollywood actor Kirti Kulhari has reportedly become the latest celebrity to fall victim to cyber fraud after fraudsters allegedly misused her credit card to carry out unauthorised international transactions worth ₹2.44 lakh. The incident has once again highlighted the growing threat of online financial scams, even for public figures.

According to reports, the incident took place on the night of July 24 while Kirti was on her way to watch a movie at a multiplex in Andheri West, Mumbai. During her journey, she received an alert from her bank informing her of a foreign currency transaction made using her credit card.

The message reportedly showed that an amount of US$2,525 had been charged for a booking with Aeromexico Airlines. Shocked by the unexpected notification, Kirti immediately contacted her bank’s customer care to verify the transaction.

After reviewing her account, the bank allegedly found that four separate unauthorised transactions had been processed through her credit card, resulting in a total loss of more than ₹2.44 lakh. To prevent any further misuse, the bank promptly blocked her credit card.

Following the incident, Kirti approached Mumbai Police and filed a formal complaint. Based on her statement, the Amboli Police have registered a case against unidentified persons under relevant sections related to cyber fraud and cheating. The investigation is currently underway.

Initial findings suggest that the actress had not shared her credit card PIN, OTP, or banking credentials with anyone. Investigators suspect that the card details may have been compromised digitally through a technical breach rather than through direct access.

Cyber experts are now examining possible digital trails, including online transactions, mobile activity, and banking records, to determine how the fraudsters obtained her card information. Authorities are working to trace the source of the breach and identify those responsible for the scam.

The case serves as another reminder of the increasing sophistication of cybercriminals, who are using advanced methods to steal financial information without victims even realising it. Experts continue to advise people to regularly monitor bank statements, enable instant transaction alerts, avoid saving card details on unknown websites, and immediately report any suspicious activity to their bank.

On the professional front, Kirti Kulhari recently completed shooting for her debut feature film as a producer, marking a new chapter in her career. The actor has earned acclaim for her performances in films and series such as Uri: The Surgical Strike, Mission Mangal, Criminal Justice, Human, and Four More Shots Please!. She has also been in the news for making her relationship with actor Rajeev Siddhartha official earlier this year.

As the investigation continues, police are hoping that digital evidence and banking records will help track down the fraudsters behind the unauthorised transactions.
