Actor Yash recently opened up about his experience shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited epic film Ramayana, revealing how he created the right atmosphere to get into the mindset of his character, Ravana. The Kannada superstar shared that he would often play devotional music loudly on set to connect with the powerful and spiritual side of the mythological character.

Yash, who plays the role of Ravana in the upcoming two-part film, spoke about his preparation during the film’s promotion at San Diego Comic-Con alongside director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra and co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

Talking about stepping into the role of Ravana, Yash explained that his massive costume and crown helped him transform into the character every day. However, his unique preparation method involved creating a certain energy around him before filming.

The actor revealed that he used to bring big speakers to the set and play music at full volume, especially songs dedicated to Lord Shiva. Since Ravana is known in mythology as one of Lord Shiva’s greatest devotees, Yash wanted to feel that spiritual intensity while portraying the character.

“I used to get big speakers and just play music in full volume. I used to play Shiva songs. Ravana is a big devotee of Lord Shiva. I wanted to be in that trance,” Yash shared.

His co-star Ranbir Kapoor also mentioned that although he had not yet filmed scenes with Yash, other team members had told him how the actor’s presence and energy would completely change the mood on set.

Director Nitesh Tiwari jokingly recalled Yash’s music sessions, with the actor admitting that his loud music sometimes made it difficult for others on set to have conversations. He joked that he had “spoiled the atmosphere” but explained that it helped him stay connected with Ravana’s personality and mindset.

The upcoming Ramayana has already created massive excitement among audiences due to its grand scale and star-studded cast. Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi will play Sita, and Yash will be seen as the powerful antagonist Ravana. The film also features Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha.

The film recently made headlines after clips from its trailer were leaked online following its showcase at San Diego Comic-Con. The makers had earlier planned a global trailer launch but decided to postpone it after the leaked footage circulated widely.

Producer Namit Malhotra stated that the goal is to present Ramayana on a global platform with the scale of major international films. The first part of the epic is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026, while the second part is expected to arrive in theatres in 2027.

With its ambitious visuals, strong performances and a legendary story, Ramayana remains one of the most anticipated Indian films in recent years. Yash’s intense preparation for Ravana has only added to the curiosity around his portrayal of the iconic character.
