Activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk has shared an emotional video message from his hospital bed on the 25th day of his hunger strike, assuring supporters that he is still alive while speaking about his health condition and the demands behind his protest.
Beginning his message with the words “Abhi bhi zinda hoon” (I am still alive), Wangchuk said that although his health has been affected by the prolonged fast, he remains stable and determined to continue his fight.
Wangchuk Opens Up About Health Condition
In the video, Wangchuk revealed that he has lost around 11 kilograms of weight along with significant muscle mass during the hunger strike.
Despite the physical challenges, he said his condition is currently stable and expressed gratitude to those who have been supporting him.
The activist also emphasized that his decision to continue the fast is not about personal demands but about ensuring that the concerns of students and young protesters are addressed.

Will End Hunger Strike If Students Are Protected
Wangchuk reiterated that he is ready to end his hunger strike if the government provides assurance that students who participated in the recent protests will not face police action, arrests, or harassment.
He said that the safety and rights of young protesters remain his primary concern and that a peaceful resolution is possible through dialogue.
According to Wangchuk, students should not be punished for raising their voices over issues affecting their future.
