Punjabi actor-singer Ammy Virk has openly backed his 83 co-star Ranveer Singh amid the ongoing Don 3 controversy, questioning the timing of the financial dispute surrounding the actor’s reported exit from the project.
The issue has become one of the most talked-about topics in Bollywood, with film bodies, producers, and industry insiders weighing in on the matter. While many have remained cautious, Ammy Virk did not hesitate to express his support for Ranveer.
Ammy Virk Questions the Timing
In a recent interview with Connect Cine, Ammy said that when Ranveer Singh was going through a difficult phase at the box office, there was little public discussion about the future of Don 3. According to him, the situation changed only after Dhurandhar emerged as a major success.
“I feel, when he had a few flops, then you could have started Don 3. Then they ignored him. Now that Dhurandhar is a hit, they are asking for their money back,” Ammy said.
He also questioned reports claiming that producers were seeking Rs 45 crore from the actor.
“They can do whatever they want. Whatever they are owed of Rs 2-4 crore, take that and move on. Who is going to give Rs 45 crore?” he added.
At the same time, Ammy admitted that he does not know every detail of the dispute and cannot comment on the contractual aspects of the matter.
‘These Cases Go On for Years’
Speaking about the legal angle, Ammy said that if producers wish to pursue legal action, they are free to do so, but such cases often drag on for years.
“They can file a case. These kinds of cases go nowhere. They go on for 20 years,” he remarked.
His comments have quickly gone viral, with fans appreciating his decision to stand by his former co-star.
Ranveer Singh’s Emotional Message After Dhurandhar
Ammy Virk also shared an emotional story about his conversation with Ranveer Singh following the success of Dhurandhar.
According to him, he congratulated Ranveer after the film’s trailer was released. By that time, Ranveer had also become a father.
Ammy revealed that Ranveer sent him a heartfelt message, saying that he had invested everything into the film and had high hopes for it.
The Punjabi star said he encouraged Ranveer to stay positive and even told him that his daughter had brought good fortune into his life.
“I told him to wait and see. I said his daughter had brought him good luck and God was going to be kind. And that’s what happened,” Ammy shared.
What Is the Don 3 Dispute?
The controversy began after reports of Ranveer Singh’s abrupt exit from Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar.
In May, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor following a complaint related to the project.
According to reports, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar’s primary concern revolves around the financial investment already made in the film. Sources claim that nearly Rs 45 crore has reportedly been spent on pre-production and other related work.
The producers are said to have maintained that the amount has been fully audited and documented.
FWICE Withdraws Non-Cooperation Directive
In a significant development, FWICE later decided to withdraw the non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh following requests from CINTAA and IMPAA.
The decision came shortly after the actor reportedly sent a legal notice to the film workers’ body over its earlier action.
FWICE officials have also indicated that they are willing to sit down with Ranveer Singh and resolve the matter through discussion.
According to the organisation, the goal is to protect the interests of everyone involved and avoid further losses.
Can the Film Still Be Saved?
Despite the ongoing dispute, reports suggest that all stakeholders, including Farhan Akhtar, producer Ritesh Sidhwani, Ranveer Singh, and industry bodies, remain open to finding an amicable solution.
There is hope that discussions could eventually lead to a settlement, allowing the project to move forward without prolonged legal complications.
Industry Debate Grows
The Don 3 controversy has evolved beyond a simple casting issue. It has sparked conversations about contractual obligations, financial accountability, and the responsibilities of both actors and production houses.
Ammy Virk’s public support for Ranveer Singh has added another dimension to the debate, with many fans arguing that professional setbacks should not define an actor’s career.
As the situation continues to unfold, Bollywood is closely watching to see whether the dispute will end in a legal battle or a mutual resolution that benefits all parties involved.
