The historical drama Raja Shivaji, starring Riteish Deshmukh, has delivered a solid performance at the Indian box office, collecting a gross of ₹40.34 crore over its opening weekend. Despite receiving mixed critical responses, the film maintained steady momentum through Sunday, registering its third consecutive double-digit day.

According to early estimates, the film earned around ₹12 crore nett on Day 3 across 5,771 shows. The Marathi version continued to dominate the overall earnings, while the Hindi version also showed a gradual upward trend over the weekend.

Weekend box office breakdown

Over its first three days, Raja Shivaji has accumulated approximately ₹33.90 crore nett in India, with the total gross reaching ₹40.34 crore. On Sunday alone, the Marathi version contributed about ₹7.75 crore, while the Hindi version added around ₹4.25 crore.

The film has now recorded three straight double-digit days since release, indicating consistent audience interest. The Marathi version, despite a relatively limited release of 1,852 shows, maintained strong traction with an impressive occupancy of around 67%.

Cast and production

The film features a large ensemble cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia D’Souza, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, and Amole Gupte in key roles. The film also features a special appearance by Salman Khan, which has been drawing strong audience reactions in theatres.

The project marks the acting debut of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza’s son, Rahyl. Produced by Genelia D’Souza and Jyoti Deshpande, the film sees Riteish portraying Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, with Genelia playing Saibai.

Box office outlook

With a strong ₹40.34 crore gross in just three days, Raja Shivaji has managed to sustain its momentum over the opening weekend. The Marathi version continues to lead the charge, while the Hindi version’s steady growth suggests wider audience acceptance in the coming weeks.
