Directed by David Dhawan, the film carries a blend of nostalgia and modern appeal. Interestingly, the title track has been recreated in just 48 hours, only days before the teaser launch. Music composer duo Javed-Mohsin revealed that the director’s vision was to create a song that connects with today’s youth while maintaining a strong mass appeal.
The recreated track draws inspiration from the iconic “Ishq Chandi Hai, Ishq Sona Hai” from the 1999 film Biwi No.1, originally composed by Anu Malik and sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Hema Sardesai. While about 80% of the original lyrics by Sameer Anjaan have been retained, new elements, including rap portions, have been added to give it a fresh and contemporary vibe.

Lyricist Mohsin Shaikh shared that the aim was to create a “larger-than-life festival song” that resonates with Gen Z while keeping the charm of classic Bollywood alive. The song blends traditional instruments like tabla and dholak with modern house music, live brass sections, and energetic beats.
Adding to the excitement, Varun Dhawan himself was deeply involved in the making of the track. He reportedly spent two nights in the studio working closely with the team to perfect the song, highlighting his dedication and passion for his craft.
The film also features a strong supporting cast including Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, and Mouni Roy. Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on May 22.
